Religion and Politics
I consider myself a spiritual person, aligned to no specific faith, but a believer of the best parts of them all. We are all in this world together, we should be lending a hand.
So why is it on one side of the political spectrum, people believe in protecting the wealthiest among us? That sharing the cost of universal health care is socialism? That the theory of trickle down economics is the answer? Has any of these ever benefited anyone living in poverty?
Do they really believe that the wealthy, if left to their own choice to help those less fortunate, will "Give them food, for they are hungry?" " Give them drink because they are thirsty?" "Take them in because they are a stranger - and have no shelter?" - Paraphrased for those that don't really know their own scriptures.
